The official match ball for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is called Trionda and was unveiled in October 2025 as Adidas’ latest World Cup innovation. Trionda is designed to capture the spirit of unity and energy across the three host nations, USA, Mexico, and Canada, with its name derived from “tri” (three) and “onda” (wave), symbolizing “three waves” coming together for football’s biggest event.
2026 FIFA World Cup ball Design
Trionda features a vibrant red, green, and blue color scheme that pays tribute to each host country. The ball’s construction uses just four panels (the lowest number ever for a World Cup ball), creating a distinctive triangular design at the center and offering smoother flight, better touch, and minimal water uptake. Iconography on the ball includes the maple leaf for Canada, an eagle for Mexico, and a star for the United States, with gold detailing referencing the World Cup Trophy.
Technical Innovation
Adidas incorporated advanced technology, including a cutting-edge textured surface and a thermally bonded seamless structure for enhanced control and trajectory predictability. Notably, Trionda contains a 500Hz motion sensor chip with an accelerometer and gyroscope, giving it a “heartbeat” and allowing detailed tracking of ball movement during matches, making this the most technically advanced World Cup ball to date.
Availability
Trionda was released globally on October 2, 2025, and will be the centerpiece of all 104 fixtures during the World Cup across North America.
This ball not only celebrates football’s rich tradition but also introduces a leap in design and technology for the sport’s biggest stage.
