Neeraj Chopra wins Paris Diamond League 2025 with 88.16M throw

India’s Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra started his 2025 Diamond League campaign with a commanding victory at the Paris leg, securing his first major title of the year. Chopra’s very first throw soared to an impressive 88.16 meters, a mark that remained unbeaten throughout the event and set the tone for his win. His closest rival, Germany’s Julian Weber, finished second with a best effort of 87.88 meters, while Brazil’s Luiz Mauricio Da Silva took third place with a throw of 86.62 meters.

Chopra’s subsequent attempts included a strong 85.10 meters throw, but he fouled in his next three tries before finishing with an 82.89 meters effort in the final round. Despite this, his opening throw proved decisive, highlighting his ability to deliver under pressure and reaffirming his status as one of the world’s elite javelin throwers.

This victory marks Chopra’s first Diamond League win in two years and comes after a series of near misses and second-place finishes, including at the Doha Diamond League earlier this season, where he threw a personal best of 90.23 meters but was edged out by Weber’s 91.06 meters. Chopra’s Paris triumph is seen as a significant boost to his confidence and momentum as he prepares for upcoming international competitions, including the Ostrava Golden Spike and the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru.
