Harry Brook is an English international cricketer, who plays for England across all formats as a right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium pace bowler. Harry Brook is ineligible for IPL 2026 due to a two-year IPL ban imposed after his withdrawal from the 2025 season.
Ban Details
Brook, who was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore, decided to pull out of the IPL in March 2025 to focus on playing for England. Because of this, a rule says he cannot play or take part in the IPL auction for two seasons (2026 and 2027). He will only be allowed to come back and join the auction in 2028. This rule applies to players who quit before the season starts without being injured, and Brook is the first overseas player to be punished this way.
Prior Withdrawals
The BCCI officially informed Brook and the ECB about his punishment soon after he withdrew in March 2025. He is the first foreign player to be affected by this rule, which was made because franchises were upset about players quitting repeatedly. Brook cannot play in the IPL until at least 2028, even though he is doing well in white-ball cricket and has played IPL before, scoring 190 runs in 11 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023.

England Priorities
Brook cited a busy international schedule, including 2026 home series against multiple nations, as his focus. As England’s white-ball captain, he prioritizes national cricket over franchise leagues.
Brook publicly apologized to Delhi Capitals but emphasized national commitments as his priority.
