In a major potential shake-up ahead of the next IPL season, reports suggest that Rajasthan Royals are exploring a blockbuster trade involving their captain Sanju Samson in exchange for Chennai Super Kings veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. If finalized, the move could reshape both squads core balance, marking one of the most high-profile player swaps in recent IPL history.
RR want Ravindra Jadeja
Rajasthan Royals want to trade Sanju Samson, their captain and most capped player, and have specifically asked Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a swap deal involving top CSK player like Ravindra Jadeja. However, CSK has accepted the request to trade Jadeja, as they consider Jadeja is tradeable with sanju samson. Both players have a similar value of INR 18 crore each. They think Samson is most beneficial for CSK as they know MS Dhoni is retireing soon. This has made a direct swap between Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja likely at this stage, although discussions are ongoing, and the situation might evolve before the IPL 2026 auction.
RR owner Manoj Badale is exploring multiple options and has even reached out to other franchises besides CSK, SRH, LSG etc for Samson’s trade or release. Final decisions depend on player consent and strategic considerations of the franchises involved.
Who is New Twist ?
However, RR is not willing to accept a simple one-for-one trade they want an additional player, with the South African young batting sensation Dewald Brevis being the top demand from CSK, making the deal more complex. CSK values Jadeja highly and is backward to let go of Brevis, who is seen as a long-term asset. The talks are ongoing and expected to see clarity after CSK’s internal meetings around November 10-11, before the retention deadline on November 15.

In summary, while CSK is ready for a trade involving Sanju Samson and Jadeja, RR’s insistence on including Dewald Brevis complicates the deal, making a straightforward swap currently unlikely. The trade’s outcome depends on further negotiations and player’s consent within the next few days leading up to IPL auction and retention finalization.
