For the 5th and final Test between India and England at The Oval starting July 31, 2025, there will be notable replacements in both teams’ playing XIs due to injuries and strategic changes.

Dhruv Jurel: Rishabh got injured with a fractured right foot, will be replaced by wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel in the playing XI. Pant’s official squad replacement is Narayan Jagadeesan. Dhruv Jurel is likely to take over wicketkeeping duties in the fifth and final Test against England after Rishabh Pant was ruled out.

Akash Deep: If Jasprit Bumrah is not available for the 5th Test against England at The Oval, Akash Deep is the most likely replacement to join the playing XI. Akash Deep previously replaced Bumrah in the second Test and is expected to do so again, provided he is fit after recovering from a recent injury.

Kuldeep Yadav: Kuldeep Yadav is reportedly in strong contention to play for India in the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has explicitly advised head coach Gautam Gambhir to include Yadav.

Arshdeep Singh: India is likely to replace debutant Anshul Kamboj with the more experienced left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh in the bowling lineup for the upcoming England Test, adding accuracy and experience to the attack. The decision reflects the team’s desire for greater control and reliability in bowling, especially on testing English pitches, as Kamboj struggled with consistency and pace in his initial outing.

These changes reflect a balance of fitness management and tactical choices for the Oval Test, which is typically played on a flat pitch humoring spin.
