He won several domestic titles as a player, including the National Football League (2005–06), Federation Cup (2003, 2005), Durand Cup (2001), and IFA Shield (2006) with Mahindra United. He also represented Maharashtra in the Santosh Trophy (won 1999–2000) and was part of the Indian team that won the SAFF Championship in 1997.
Managerial Career and Major Achievements
- Jamil began his coaching career instantly after retiring due to injuries in 2009, starting with Mumbai FC.
- Most notable achievement came with Aizawl FC, which he coached starting in 2017. He guided them to a historic 2016-17 I-League title, making Aizawl the first club from Northeast India to win the national league, an underdog victory compared to settled clubs like Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.
