In a sport where speed meets strategy and technology defines victory, one Formula 1 giant has not only dominated the track but also raced ahead in brand value. The latest valuation figures reveal which team sits at the very top of the financial podium, proving that success in F1 isn’t just measured in championship points, but in billions.
Mercedes F1
Mercedes’ Formula 1 team, known as Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, is one of the most successful and prominent teams in the sport’s recent history. Based in Brackley, United Kingdom, the team has a storied legacy of innovation, talent, and record-breaking achievements. Mercedes’ Formula 1 team has been valued at a record £4.6 billion (approximately $6 billion), making it the most valuable F1 team ever and surpassing Liverpool FC in valuation.
Mercedes’ Formula 1 team has been valued at a record £4.6 billion following the sale of a 5% stake of the team to American billionaire George Kurtz, founder and CEO of CrowdStrike. Toto Wolff, team principal and CEO of the Mercedes F1 team, sold 15% of his shareholding, translating to that 5% stake overall, for around £230 million. This valuation of £4.6 billion sets a new record for an F1 team, surpassing McLaren’s previous valuation of about £3.5 billion. Wolff emphasized that the valuation is based on the team’s revenues, cash flows, and profitability, placing Mercedes among the top few most profitable sports teams in the world. Kurtz has joined as a technology advisor and part of the ownership group, bringing expertise that merges racing demands with technology and business scaling.
Liverpool FC
Liverpool FC is valued at around £4.6 billion (approximately $5.4 billion), placing it among the most valuable football clubs globally. This valuation reflects the club’s significant growth since its acquisition by Fenway Sports Group (FSG) in 2010 for about $340 million, highlighting a substantial return on investment driven by revenue increases, commercial success, and fanbase expansion. Liverpool’s status as a top-tier club with an iconic stadium and global following contributes heavily to this high valuation.
With Mercedes’ Formula 1 juggernaut now overtaking Liverpool FC in valuation, it’s clear that the balance of sporting power and investment appeal is shifting beyond the pitch to the racetrack.
