Early Career

  • Kundu started playing cricket in school and state junior teams. He did really well in the Under-14 and Under-16 levels. He was the first from his school to score more than 1,000 runs in one season. He also captained his state team to win the Under-16 Nationals.
  • Kundu started impressing everyone early on. By age 13, he had scored more than 21,000 runs and hit 70 centuries, including a huge unbeaten 457 in a local tournament.
  • By 17, his total runs went past 28,000 with 122 centuries in Under-16 and younger age groups. This got him a place in the India Book of Records for the most runs by any Under-16 player.
