India’s best T20I XI not selected for the 2026 World Cup

BCCI has announced India’s team for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, leaving out some big names who were in recent T20I squads. Surprisingly, India’s team selectors left out some major players, causing big arguments among fans. Key players left out include former vice-captain Shubman Gill, who’s struggling with form, and wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma.

The 15-member squad led by Suryakumar Yadav (c) and Axar Patel (vc) features: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Washington Sundar, and Ishan Kishan (wk).

Probable Non-Selected XI

Fans and experts point out a powerful Indian team made up of players who weren’t picked, showing the country’s great talent depth:

  • Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill
  • Middle order: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk)
  • All-rounders: Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washingtone Sundar
  • Bowlers: Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal
